PSATs

Fall 2025

Note: Students must bring their school computer and charger on test day

A practice version of the College Board Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), known as the PSAT/NMSQT, measures verbal, writing, and mathematical abilities important in college work. The PSAT/NMSQT is recommended for sophomores and juniors who are thinking of going to college. For more information, see the Student Guide.

 Test Day Location: Dover High School

Test Date: Thursday, Oct 16, 2025, 7:40am

  Deadline to sign up: Friday, October 3th by 

      2:30pm (hard deadline, no exceptions)

Cost: $25

 Sign up: Students interested in taking the test should see Mrs. Graves in the Guidance Office to sign up. 

Payment: Due at time of registration, cash or check is accepted. Checks are to be made payable to Dover High School. There are Fee Waivers available for eligible Juniors, which is outlined HERE

Caps and Gowns

Believe it or not seniors, the process for ordering caps and gowns has begun. Please use the link below to order your cap and gown by January 11, 2026.

College 101 Presentation

The School Counseling Department will be hosting a 'College 101 Presentation' for parents/guardians of seniors on October 7th at 6:00 pm in the Auditorium. This presentation will go over the nuts and bolts of the college application process and financial aid.

 

AP Testing

Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Registration-If your student is taking an AP course at DHS or through VLACS, it is time to register for the May AP exam. Please review the important steps and deadlines below:

  1. Register: Students must register for each AP exam through their MyAP account.
  2. Payment: The exam fee is $99 per exam, payable by check to Dover High School.
  3. Deadline: Registration and payment must be completed by October 15. Exams will not be ordered without payment.
  4. Late/Cancelled Exams:
    1. Exams ordered after October 15 will incur a $40 late fee ($99 + $40).
    2. AP charges a $40 fee for any exam ordered but not taken.

College Admissions Visits

An admissions representative from Bowdoin College will be coming to Dover High School on Monday, September 29th. If you would like to attend the information session, please sign up in the School Counseling Office.

 

Service Academy Nominations

Senator Shaheen's office has sent a reminder of the October 3, 2025 application deadline for a service academy nomination (United states Naval Academy, United states Air Force Academy, United states Merchant Marine Academy and the United states Military Academy at West Point). More information can be found at htpp://www.shaheen.senate.gov under the Academy Nominations tab.

 

Operation Homefront

Every year (now in its 18th year) Operation Homefront hosts the Military Child of the Year® Awards. The awards are open to military children between the ages of 13-18. There are seven recipients, one child from each branch of the services. Each winner receives $10,000, a laptop, other donated goodies, and a three-day trip to Washington, DC with Operation Honefront and their families.

 

Children are entered by nominations. Anyone that knows a military child can nominate them. any military child. The awards are open to Active Duty, Reserves, and Veteran children. The nomination window closes December 2nd.

 

The program is entirely free and exclusive to military children.
